Students, Faculty and Staff Gear up for Annual Cultural Event “Collage of Cultures” at the Sheraton Huahin Resort and Spa

WUT’s annual cultural event, Collage of Cultures is being held this year at the Sheraton Hua Hin Resort and Spa. The event kicks off at 7 pm Saturday, December 3rd, 2011.

This student event is held by, for and from the students here at WUT. Starting with a fashion show exhibiting the native dress of the cultures & countries listed below, the students move on to a music and performance section of the program. While it’s a formal dress party, many opt to wear national costume as the option, representing the student nationalities at Webster Thailand.

The fare is light international supper and we have continued the tradition with the addition of a theme this year: “Vintage.”

Study Abroad Experiences

Webster University Thailand – Study abroad students share their experiences in Thailand

Webster Student rides Tour de Thailand to help raise money for Operation Smile

My name is Michael Conroy and I would like to take a moment to tell you about this amazing experience for a worthy cause. I am a new student at Webster University Thailand – Bangkok center, pursuing a Master’s Degree in International Relations. Although I am new to Webster, I am not new to Thailand. Before my arrival in Bangkok, I was persuaded by John Graham, a Webster Thailand Alumni from the spring 2008 class, to participate in the Tour de Thailand. This 2,300km bicycle ride from Cháng Mai to Phuket benefits Operation Smile and the Thai Foundation for the Blind in Bangkok. The Tour de Thailand is the signature charity tour of the Tour de Asia Bicycle Touring Company, owned and operated by Christopher Byrd, who just happens to work out of Hua Hin, near Webster’s Cha-am campus. Webster University Thailand (WUT) celebrated 10 years of successful operations in Thailand last year. WUT has been privileged and honored by having His Excellency Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva announcing and granting 10 full scholarships under his name to be awarded to outstanding students in Thailand. Prior to this Webster University offered 94 scholarships to celebrate the 94 successful years of operations globally.

On August 30, 2010, in attendance for this milestone event were His Excellency Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, the Honorable Judith Cefkin – Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of the United States of America, Mrs. Benjawan Salangnintara – Secretary of OCSC, and Mr. Ratish Thakur – Rector of Webster University Thailand, at Santri Maitree Building, at the Royal Thai Government House.
